Horse Detector
The Vaisala WXT510 horse detector seems to be working. It emits NMEA0183 messages. The last field of the $WIMWD sentence, before the checksum, is ‘V’ for horse detected, and ‘A’ for no horse.
Grumpy cat loaf with oranges and olives
The loafs in this park may be grumpy because they have burst eardrums from the explosion the previous night.
Kinesis Advantage USB PCB
Kinesis Advantage MPC USB/QD keyboard.
I suspect that this board was designed as an adapter for the previous PS/2 model, and the case has not been changed. It’s stuck on with a sticky pad and glue, and converts USB to PS/2 which links to the main board.
The heated propogator worked
It worked.
3 of 3 cumari germinated. 2 of 4 Chocolate Habaneros, which is much better than the 1 of 6 at the last attempt. I had also treated them with bleach though, as some went furry last time.
There is also a weed that came with the compost. I’m growing it to see what it is.
Alu board reflow
The heater in this T-962A reflow oven struggles to keep up for an aluminium board, so I modified the profile a bit to let it catch up. It worked with the adjustment.
Heated propogator hack
Carbon heating wire directly in soil in insulated container. Irradiating with UV as a probably futile anti-mould measure.

Sprouting chickpeas
These did not look very happy and took a long time to sprout. In the end I didn’t eat most of them, but I planted one which is actually doing quite well in the garden.
Aneng AN8009 Multimeter Upgrade
I modded my multimeter, roughly following this guide: https://www.jackenhack.com/aneng-an8008-modify-for-better-accuracy-faster-readings/
I used the parts I had, which for the 3V rail were 100nF and 10uF ceramics, and a 470uF Rubycon. The voltage reference also got a 10uF. The replaced cap was a 100uF Chong.
Autoranging is still frustratingly slow, but I think it is probably a bit faster once it’s in the right range.
New wallmount patch panel
Putting in a new patch panel and cable. Panel was from aliexpress, seems quite solid though. Metal, claims Cat 6a.

New Toys: Heltec LoRa boards
Cheapest LoRa things I could find on Aliexpress. Hardware seems nice, documentation and software leaves a lot to be desired.

Yerba mate brewed in an espresso machine seems to give good crema, and actually tastes pretty good!
